The on the water Jury spent much time debating the tacking technique of some Asian Optimist sailors in very light conditions, as it seemed too extreme. Ultimately, no boat was penalised for tacking technique but it remains a concern. A Q&A will be raised to clarify the issues
The regatta was run over three courses, for Optimists, other dinghies, and keelboats. Light and shifting winds on some days led to problems for the race officers, and requests for redress when courses became unfair.
However they did well to complete the majority of the programme. The selection series for A and B Optimist fleets was shortened from 3 to 2 races which may not be ideal.
Organisation of the event was first class, and competitors enjoyed the social functions.
