THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
In one case, a leading boat sought redress because after rounding the top mark, the boat behind her caught and dragged the top mark downwind and made the leg shorter. After freeing herself from the mark she retired and the rest of the fleet rounded the new mark position and therefore sailed a shorter course. The Jury ruled that the leading boat was entitled to redress because a replacement mark was not placed by the RC immediately when there was an opportunity to do so. GPS tracks were obtained from the leading boats and from this the Jury deduced that the leading boat sailed 732 meters more than the rest of the fleet . Based on her speed, the Jury gave redress by reducing her elapsed time by the amount of time going the extra distance. - MASLC2
