THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
(1) General Good venue location and facilities for board sailing. The race management volunteers were very helpful to the organisation and the jury. This event is the first international event for the Windsurfer Class after the class received its World Sailing Class Association status on 4th Nov 2018. (2) Rules The class rules used for the event were still draft class rules (April 2018 version) pending approval from World Sailing. Class rule C1.1(b)(i), Course racing format, prohibits a board from pumping 30 seconds after the starting signal when she is on a close-hauled course. The class emphasises the gains based on skill and tactics rather than on physical fitness with pumping throughout the beat to windward. This rule was observed by most of the fleet with some still pumping after 30 seconds. (3) Redress There were multiple requests for redress against the RC alleging that their score for OCS and DNF were wrong. Redress was not given to all requests as there was no improper action or omission under RRS 62.1(a). - SGPJN1
