THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
At the briefing the assembled competitors requested that Flag U be included in the sailing instructions in accordance with Appendix L 11.5. They liked the idea that after a general recall with Flag U they could re-start without penalty. An amendment was therefore issued to this effect and was tried out on two occasions at this regatta. One start with Flag U had 4 boats DSQ (UFD?) for OCS with no general recall and the other start with Flag U had no OCS boats.
Competitors felt the flags on the committee boat were too small and were displayed too low. The hoist was later raised which helped. The jury felt that for international championships minimum flag sizes should be specified. The race committee initially used one VHF channel for both race management in Italian and advising the competitors the count downs and OCS announcements in English. It was difficult for many sailors to pick out the English in a sea of Italian. Later the race committee dedicated one channel for English and one for the Italian race management which solved the problem.
