Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
Again, as expected, this event gathered almost every aspect of the sailing competition, perfect for the Race Official to learn or keep developing their skills. Many different and challenging classes, international competitors, Fleet Race, Umpired Fleet Race, Team Race. We also used Appendix T, etc.
On the not so bright side, we had above average cases of misconduct from competitors and support persons (parents and coaches).
This was not a good sign for the sport, so we created a taskforce to give the AO a feedback on how to avoid or at least to mitigate these cases, with information, prevention and education. Part of the education includes the knowledge that support persons can be punished, and also their supported competitors.
One example: To previously inform the competitors and their support persons on registration, about the rules and their roles. Also, to add signs, reminding what is expected from competitors and support persons (ie: on the ramp launch area: - ARGFN
