Credit goes to the OA, Oman Sail for organising the Mussanah Open Championship at a short notice of just 35 days. Abu Dhabi withdrew from hosting the Asia & Africa Olympic Qualifier due to the escalating pandemic. In Spite of the difficult pandemic protocols , the event turned out to be very successful with all races very well run and on schedule for the 49er, 49er FX, Laser Standard/Radial and RS:X Men/Women classes. The organisers and race management had to keep altering plans to meet the pandemic issues that cropped up and to keep all the race officials, support persons and competitors in a safe bubble at the Millenium Resort event venue. Many race officials originally appointed had to withdraw at the last minute due to travel restrictions but Oman Sail was quick to get replacements endorsed by World Sailing. The event used an electronic notice board and all requests were carried out on line to reduce people to people contact. Competitors used QR Codes for forms and were notified via Whatsapp for hearings and equipment substitution approvals. Two allegations of team racing were carried out but the PC found insufficient substance to call for a Rule 69 hearing in both cases. - MASLC2
