This inaugural South East Asian Sailing Championship is the first international sailing event for the Kingdom of Cambodia. The sailing event was created by the MNAs of South East Asian countries to be in parallel with the South East Asian Games which the host country, Vietnam, has opted not to have in the games. Covid19 upsurge meant many countries could not send competitors. Officials and competitors had to be strictly tested before entering the event bubble. In spite of the stringent controls, 4 ITOs were tested positive for Covid19 and had to be isolated. This meant that ITOs were reduced but the organisers, the Competition Manager and Jury worked together to simplify the race course from the original 2 courses to a 2 in 1 race course. Credit goes to the organisers for doing their best to ensure the event could run well even though they lacked the experience to conduct an international sailing event. Overall the event was a success and a very good start for an emerging country like Cambodia, hitherto unknown for sailing. The venue, Sokha Beach, and accommodation was an excellent choice for the event. - MASLC2
