THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
One overseas judge was unavoidably absent with one day notice, therefore the Jury complied with RRS N1.5 to remain properly constituted as it was impossible to fit a replacement which needed to be from overseas.
The jury tasks spanned from on the water umpiring using appendix UF (45 penalties given), mediation (2 cases) and jury hearings.
We had perfect wind, weather and tide conditions which allowed to perform the full schedule.
The jury hearing schedule and decisions were published electronically and repeated with a screen next to the paper notice board, with also online consultation possible.
Tracking evidence was used during a request for redress for a BFD, which demonstrated it would not be practicable for the line sighters to identify that boat in the middle of the fleet and far from the line. Indeed a confusion in bow numbers was confirmed the most probable cause among parties and led to giving redress.
