J80 Class rule C.10 SAILS limits a boat's opportunity to change damaged gennakers during an event. The IJ for the Championships received a hearing request from the event Technical Committee regarding a damaged, repaired and replaced gennaker used on the fourth day of the regatta. The hearing caused several queries on the phrase "effectively repaired while afloat" in the class rule and stated traditions in the class. The IJ will suggest changes to the class for future events.
