THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
The OA was efficient, hospitable and accommodating. The 3 RHIBs provided by the OA were good for on-water judging RRS 42. They were quick to change one of them which had a draining issue. The RIHBs were checked and refuelled each morning by the OA. With 23 classes and 4 course areas, Race Management had to split the racing schedule into half the classes at 1200h and the remainder at 1530h warning signals. This meant long hours on the water and at the venue for most of the race officials with 20-25 knots of wind, choppy sea conditions with rain on some of the racing days. RRS Appendix T applied. The Jury managed by sending at least one judge ashore after the first half of the day's racing to arbitrate any potential cases and schedule hearings. Therefore, some of the Jury vessels had only 1 judge on board. However, at all times of racing, 3 Jury RHIBs were afloat. ILCAs and Optimists were prioritised for on-water judging RRS 42. Jury member Michael O'Connor (IJ, IU) – IRL, also a member of the umpire team for the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) Final at the Cruising Yacht Club of AUS in Sydney from 13-18 December, was a member of the hearing panel for Case 2 on the morning of 17 Dec (Sat). He joined the Jury on 19 Dec (Mon) to judge on-water RRS 42 and for Case 3. - SGPJN1
