THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
The event was run using the club's J80's and Far East 28r's. In addition there was a hotly contested radio yacht event.

The venue was the 2008 Olympic marina providing excellent berthing and accommodation.

Having been on the jury four years ago, it was evident that the depth of skill of the sailors had greatly improved during this period. Previously there were a few top teams, but this year, the talent ran much deeper down the fleet and some excellent racing. Also the level of rules knowledge was at a very high level with minimal incidents.

Very pleasing to see a number of female crews and female skippers in the event.

There was on water fleet racing umpiring with approximately 12 penalties imposed which I believe contributed to a minimal number of protest hearings at the event (three protests).

The race management was excellent with plenty of resources (ribs, course layers) to efficiently lay and alter the trapezoid course axis as required.

There was strong support from the community, local and regional government.

Very good accommodation and support for the jury, with the hotel being the previous Olympic athlete village directly adjacent to the marina. Unfortunately due to last minute visa problems, two additional IJs from South Korea and Japan were unable to attend. Jury Chairman also had visa issues but the organisers were able to provide valuable assistance and arrived the morning of the first race. Jury was properly constituted under Appendix N1.5.

An excellent event and international teams would be welcomed to enter. - AUSPP3
The regatta attracted almost all the top keel boat skippers in China. - CHNCQ1
