THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
- We used the DPI guidelines, amended from the ISAF SWC version in order to fit with our event's NoR, CR and SI. It would be a good idea to have somewhere to submit these so that they variance, if any, between events can be tracked.
- The OA and CA asked if the CR could be altered to allow for the use of GoPro cameras by competitors - the CR did not allow this. Given the class is an international one changing of CR requires ISAF permission. We created a CR mitigation form and got 'verbal' - via e-mail - permission from ISAF to use this. Other OA and CA may have similar requests, it would be good to have a place to submit these kinds of documents for all to share.
- The word "athwartships" should be removed from the rules, specifically RRS 42. Many competitors admitted they did not understand the word and it could easily be replaced with "in and out" body movement which would allow all to understand.
- The OA and CA were keen to offer both an Exoneration Penalty and Arbitration. Both were provided by the jury. The Exoneration Penalty was set at 40% and notified in the NoR and SI as well as the option of Arbitration. Only one person took the Exoneration Penalty and no competitors agreed to Arbitration although several were offered it.
- The guidance notes on RRS55 produced by the GBR NMA were found to be useful and were posted on the ONB.
- WE had a few cases were validity was a concern. If classes adopted the Protest Flag requirement these would be reduced. ISAF should encourage CA to consider adopting an appropriate rule in the CR.
- The OA and CA agreed that they expected all competitors to make a genuine attempt to start, compete and finish all races scheduled. At another event a competitor prevented the running of the last race by timing out the racing period by waiting just before the finish line and then finishing just before the time limit. All who voiced an opinion said they believed such behaviour as being detrimental to the sport and should be discouraged.
- the jury were asked to provide a selection service to the Measurers for those boats to be Inspected. It would be good to have some guidence as to the different practices of achieving this fairly and successfully.
- ISAF should proceed with the creation of the proposed qualification of International Media Boat Coordinator. In particular, many of the existing good practices could be brought together and compiled to use for training candidates for such a qualification.

- Flags need to be bigger and repeated on the pin end.
- Poles work so much better than flag hoists.
- A practice race should be included in any event schedule and the practice is for the RC as much as for the competitors!
