The 2025 Ilhabela International Sailing Week upheld its reputation as a premier regatta in South America, delivering high-caliber racing and exemplary event management. The regatta featured a diverse mix of classes, including the technically demanding ORC and C30 fleets. Notably, the C30 class competed under Addendum UF rules with two umpire boats overseeing a fleet of seven boats that included Olympic and world champion sailors, ensuring strict rule enforcement and fair competition.
While the weather conditions at times presented challenges, the race committee demonstrated commendable adaptability, effectively adjusting to circumstances to keep the races underway and maintain a competitive schedule.
The event benefited from the efficient Viramos.com digital platform, streamlining crew changes, equipment management, results verification, and hearing requests, which enhanced transparency and operational flow. Competitors came from Argentina, Uruguay, and various regions of Brazil, contributing to a vibrant international atmosphere.
Technical race management was outstanding, characterized by precise course setting, clear communication, and robust safety protocols. The well-rounded organization extended to excellent shore-side social activities, reinforcing participant engagement and satisfaction.
Overall, the 2025 edition demonstrated a high standard of professionalism and sportsmanship, supported by committed sponsors, partners, and volunteers. From a judge’s viewpoint, the integration of advanced umpiring and digital tools set a benchmark for future events, fostering fairness and efficiency in one of the region’s foremost sailing competitions. - ARGFN
