Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
Arbitration and a scoring penalty (25%)was available, but not (to the disappointment of a DSQ'd boat) for breaking rule 28.
For this Catamaran event, the offset mark No 2 was set deliberately high relative to Mark 2. This meant that, for those on the starboard-tack layline, Mark 2 was in effect their windward mark. Those approaching on port tack were compelled to tack at or after mark 1, many lengths from mark 2 and with room to approach the mark in a controlled way, which removed the possibility of opposite-tack boats meeting at the windward mark.
