Notice to Competitors from the International Jury

Sailing Instruction 1.4 states: 'Rule 31 is changed so that marks other than starting and finishing marks may be touched but not man handled without penalty.'

With the agreement of the Class Representative, the Jury will interpret this sailing instruction as follows:

Touching the mark means contact with the mark by any part of the boat, its equipment or the crew (including the crew's hand).

Accidental touching of the mark is permitted.

Using the crew's hands to push or otherwise physically manipulate the mark, or deliberately touching the mark to gain an advantage in the race is not permitted and breaks rule 31, it may also break rule 2.
