Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
Sailing Arabia - The Tour is a rally around the Persian and Arabian Gulfs. It is sailed in Farr 30s. There are 8 stopovers, the duration of the race is almost three weeks and the boats are sailing most of this time.
The race attracts good sailors and is becoming more and more competitive. Providing an international jury is a service that the sailors expect but it is rather impractical given the duration of the race.
The organisers have appointed a team of 7 jury members to hear protests over Skype conference call at each of the stopovers. There was a team of 5 jury members on standby for each stopover. There was a jury liaison managing the logistics on site, making sure that there was a conference room, a big screen for the parties to see the jury members and facilitating all the practical details.
There were some issues due to internet connection in the first stopover but after that the process was relatively smooth.
