THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
Having 4 race courses and entrants of boats that range from 3 to 35m plus is always a challenge for all race officials and organizers. The tasks were mastered in an excellent way.
On the last day, due to the flight schedule of two judges, two hearings were heared by an international protest committee, as though three IJs + one NJ took part in the hearing, the PC was constituted of only two nationalities. The parties were made aware of this.
The RC had to correct an error in the scoring made on the first day at the third day, applying RRS 90.3c. In was confusing for the boat affected, mainly because the RC at the finishing line gave sound signals for each boat crossing the line. Many boats still think that this sound signal indicates that the boat has raced the course correctly. It took a lot of time for the jury to explain to the boat that this thinking is not covered by the RRS. There should be a reccommendation to Race Committees to stop this unnecessary and very often confusing noise at the finishing line. Maybe the sound for the first boat crossing the line, but not more.
