During the event, the robotic marks were used because of the depth of the water in the race courses. Unfortunately, their use caused a lot of challenges and problems for the race committee and the competitors.
The race committee had problems with anchoring the RC vessels due to the depth and the current, causing starting marks to drift and consequently some starting errors and long delays on the water.
The robotic marks, quite often, moved out of position. Especially in one situation mark 2 moved to windward around 200m, causing a lot of boats to seek redress in that race. The international jury gave its decision, only after considering very carefully and in depth all the boats affected by the issue and made an as fair an arrangement as possible for all boats affected.
The ribs used for observing rule 42 on the water, were unsuitable for the conditions.
Two of them were too small for two persons on board and were unable to follow the fleet around the race course. - GRESK14
