THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
Two requests for redress were lodged by boats that were premature starters in the first race of the championship (black flag) but were by mistake scored in their finishing places. At the end of the 3rd day after race 9 this mistake was corrected by the race committee. The boats seek redress claiming that their tactics would have been different, if they had known before, that they already had sailed a discard. The boats did not challenge the decision to be BFD, only the time when it was published. Redress was not given, as RRS 90.3c applied.
As in all major events of the J24 class, the scoring penalty system is used, with different percentages for different breaches of rules. In addition, an after race scoring penalty, as well as arbitration is offered to the boats. This system needs a careful administration by the jury as well as by the race committee. Therefore it is crucial, that race committee and jury work closely together for this task, which was done during this event. 5 protests were withdrawn, as the protestees have taken a scoring penalty or an after race scoring penalty.
