THIS SECTION MAY BE COMPLETED BY ANY JURY MEMBER
Comments on rule questions, new interpretations, problems, unpopular Rule 62 (Redress) decisions, summary of the facts, conclusions and decisions of Rule 69 (Allegations of Gross Misconduct) actions, problems with Sailing Instructions or Notice of Race and experience with experimental procedures.
Some debate regarding the best arbitration system appropriate for this event. The SI requirement that a boat shall inform the RC on the finishing vessel of her intention to protest and receive an acknowledgement was unnecessary and resulted in some validity issues.
A large, complex event. Three rating divisions, each with own course area. >1300 sailors.
PRO and whole team did an race excellent management job in completing the race program in difficult wind conditions, the offshore races being particularly challenging.
The measuring team thoroughly scrutinised all boats prior to start of the series and carryed out numerous spot checks each day. No major issues.
RC lodged a protest against 26 boats under R48.2 for allegedly sailing into a traffic separation zone during an offshore race. Boats not properly informed, protests invalid, single theatrical hearing.
Boat v boat protest, with GoPro video evidence, for breach of R42.2(a). Upheld.
Boat v boat protest, with photographic evidence, for breach of R49.2. Upheld.
Jury presence in the racing areas was worthwhile as several incidents and race management issues were observed.
Great regatta in every way (except the wind) with epic prizegiving.
