SKUD 18 class rules C1.1(b) and (c) were deleted using RRS 87, with the permission of the Class President. This class rule deleted RRS 42.3(c) with the intention of permitting the boat?s crew to pump the mainsail repeatedly solely to set the battens to leeward. Since this class rule references the wrong RRS,, it was deleted. RRS 42.3(e) provides for this action, and so the class rule is not necessary
To accommodate competitors with disabilities in oral production, The second sentence of RRS 61.(a) was changed as follows:
When the protest will concern an incident in the racing area that she was involved in or saw, she shall hail "Protest" at the first reasonable opportunity if the protestor is capable of hailing "Protest". If the protestor is not capable of hailing "Protest" she shall vocalize and raise an arm high in the air at the first reasonable opportunity.
The class could also consider alternatives for hails of "Room to tack" and "You tack".
The Hansa class requested a change to RRS 63.3(a) to permit a boat in a protest involving rules of Parts 2, 3 and 4 to be represented by a person who was not on board at the time of the incident. This would accommodate a party with the disability who could not represent his boat. The rule already permits the protest committee to permit this substitution if there is good reason to do so. Therefore, no amendment to the SI was needed.
There are some prohibited crew actions in the servo class. It was not possible to observe whether these participants infringed these rules because the equipment was not visible and the boats were not marked. We recommend that the servo group be marked with a coloured ribbon or a band at the base of the mast to be easily identified while racing.
