This event, Terengganu Monsoon Challenge (TMC) 2017, is the first mega mix of various classes and events, hugely supported by the state authorities and its organisations. The TMC is designed to enlarge participation, widen competitiveness and draw wider interest nationally and internationally. It is held in the harbour famous for its Grade 1 International Monsoon Cup Match Race Series. In short the events comprise a one-day Round Island Challenge followed by two-day Opening Series of Fleet Racing for Optimists, Lasers, Radials, 4.7s, Technos, RS-Ones, Raceboards, male and female. The top 12 of each event will race in a one-day Grand Final comprising three stages: Quarter Final (3rd to 12th from the Opening Series), Semi Final (the 2nd from the Opening Series and the top 5 from the Quarter Final) and the Grand Final (the 1st from the Opening Series and the top 3 from the Semi Final). Prizes are awarded separately for the Opening Series and the Grand Final (nicknamed: TMGF, Terengganu Monsoon Grand Final). The TMFG is a smaller version of the Medal Race format, using basic Addendum Q statements. The TMC achieved its intended purposes of enlarging participation, widening competitiveness and drawing wider interest. Immediately after the event, the authorities were already talking about next year's edition. - SINST5
