This event is one in the series of the Asian Sailing Federation Cup circuit which includes Hong Kong, India and Abu Dhabi. The event is run concurrently by two organisations namely, the Royal Varuna Yacht Club for the dinghies and the Wind Surfing Authority of Thailand for the Board Sailing event. The winds were light and shifty which made it challenging for race management. There was also a strong tide that became very significant in the light winds resulting in just 3 boats finishing in one race inspite of the RC shortening the leg and subsequently shortening the course. A class action redress by 25 sailors for the race to be abandoned was not upheld as all time limits set in the SI were met and that the weakening wind was not the fault or omission of the RC.
There was a medal race for the Laser 4.7s and the Optimist Class in Course A on the final day. All other classes that did not have 15 or more boats had their final day racing at Course B.
A Jury member who had to leave early on the final day was replaced by an International Measurer for the umpire pairing at the medal race. - MASLC2
